New Releases: What upcoming games are you looking forward to?
This game was the one who got me into an RTS geek, i sadly missed out on C&C when it came out first and when i got a chance to play it on the playstation i was so confused i put it down and thought i would never be good at RTS.
One day in Tescos i saw that Total Annihilation was being sold for about £10. I thought why not and picked it up as it was a PC disc i was a bit concerned as to how i would play but i put it in anyway and i loved this game as soon as it loaded.
Everything had a gritty feeling to it, even the menu felt like a war you had to jump right in so i went to a skirmish to give it a quick test and after figuring out how to not blow myself up with the "big gun" button, ooops... I did a retry got a decent amount of resources underneath me and built my first "Peewee" ...
Anyway moving on the game for its age was amazing, even stupidly imbalanced once you owned a big bertha that shot from one end of the map to the other without a LOS on it, just detected and destroyed half a base before your units got half way.
One of the things that sealed the deal was when i accidently came across a website which was called "TA Universe" which i have no idea if it stills exists or not, it might just do but the modding capabilites of the game was amazing. I was hooked to the game way past its sell by date and i couldn't put it down making experimental tech 3 arm units just walk in water and destory a base from miles away was just... satisfying... the modding capabilites of the game just made me gawk and sometimes i still go and play it with my most favourite mods and thank god for TA unit conflictor letting all my favourite units work together...
Giving it a score now would be useless because it would not represent how i felt about the game, i am just writing from hindsight here.
